YAWAR PERU

Yawar Peru is a folkloric music group started by Peruvian students at the Riga Aviation
Institute in 1988, performs music from the Andean region and other Latin American
countries. The word “Yawar” means blood in the Quechua language, spoken by the Inca
civilization and signifies the Peruvian blood that flows through our veins.
The group participated at diƯerent festivals in Finland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia,
including the Festival Baltica 1991 in Riga and Ventspils. The group was actively performing
up to the end of 1992 when the members went to diƯerent countries to continue with their
professional career while maintaining music as a hobby. All the members are currently
aerospace engineers working and running businesses in Europe, USA and Peru.
Twenty years later, in July 2012, Yawar Peru gathered again in Riga, Latvia to perform in a
private event. Since 2012, the group continued to meet almost every year in Europe to
perform in private events.
For the Festival Baltica 2025, Yawar Peru is collaborating with the group Inti Pacha,
conformed by Peruvians residents in Munich, Germany.
